URBANE - breaking news from Fangoria!



November 12, 2004: Doug Bradley acts URBANE in Frazer Lee film

Variety reports that Park Entertainment has picked up the worldwide distribution rights to URBANE, a horror feature starring Doug Bradley.

The movie, currently in development, was written and will be directed by Frazer Lee, who previously made the short films ON EDGE and RED LINES, both featuring Bradley and released on DVD together (see review here).

It's set at a medical school where a student named Lili is drawn into the horrific world of the titular sect after the suicide of her roommate; Bradley will play the owner of a fetish club, and another HELLRAISER veteran, Bob Keen, is on board to create the makeup FX. An URBANE graphic novel is also in the works; pictured (right) is one of artist Shane Oakley's concept drawings.

When naive medical student Lili's room mate Mia commits suicide Lili feels she's to blame. But Mia had a dark secret as a `cage dancer' at the exotic Gemini Club. At Mia's funeral Lili meets Mia's friends and colleagues from the Gemini Club, amongst them owner Richard Germaine. Invited to Mia's wake Lili takes her transexual friend Edie, and discovers a world she's never known. Spiralling into drink, drugs and sex, Lili is warned by mysterious stranger Fredericksen that her life is in danger. Can Lili trust Fredericksen or should she listen to Richard Germaine? As things spiral out of control Lili discovers she's got no one to turn to!

Robber Baron Productions is pleased to announce the appointment of Park Entertainment to handle worldwide sales of URBANE, a 21st century gothic horror feature starring Doug Bradley (Pinhead from HELLRAISER).

The screenplay was written by Frazer Lee and Max Kinnings (author of HITMAN and THE FIXER) and will be directed by Frazer Lee, award-winning director of short horror films ON EDGE and RED LINES, both featuring Doug Bradley. Joseph Alberti and Mark Wooding (TOOLBOX MURDERS) are producing the movie at Robber Baron Productions and theMroc liMited. Shooting is scheduled for summer 2005.

URBANE is set in a medical school where a naive medical student, Lili, is drawn into the horrific world of a nightmarish sect after the suicide of her roommate. Doug Bradley will play the owner of the glamourous Gemini Club, and another HELLRAISER veteran, Bob Keen (NIGHTBREED, DOG SOLDIERS), is on board to create the makeup effects. The score will be composed by the legendary Claudio Simonetti (SUSPIRIA, DAWN OF THE DEAD).

An URBANE graphic novel is also in the works with artwork design by Shane Oakley (Alan Moore's LIMBO).
